The difference lies in the way the scissors are opened or closed. The blades on left handed shears always have the left blade on top. This means that your left hand PUSHES the blades together. This is exactly what happens when a right handed person uses the typical right handed shear. With right handed shears the right handed blade is always on top. When a left handed person uses a right handed shear they have to push their index finger and thumb together. This is very difficult and causes fatigue after a short while and continued use can speed arthritis and callouses. You are doing MUCH more work then should be necessary.

If you have never used left handed shears before you will be amazed at the difference that it makes in your comfort level. Many left handed people have trained themselves to use right handed shears in their left hand or use their right hand for scissor use to try and get some degree of comfort.

If you throw a ball with your left hand or you pick up a fork to eat with your left hand you should be using left handed shears. If you are left handed please let us set your tool belt up left handed with a true pair of left handed shears. It might take a small amount of getting use to them but once you do you will wonder what you ever did without them!
